ABOUT US

The idea of Chi Heirluums was born when its founder, Su, was visiting her parents-in-law in Germany in 2019. “Memories”, “Sentiment”, “Tradition”, “Warmth” and “Eco-consciousness” are just some of the words that came to her mind when she picked up a towel in her in-laws’ kitchen to dry her hands, and noticed her 30-year-old husband’s name embroidered on it. The sentimental value and the effort behind this piece of cloth, that presumably was once a burp cloth or a washcloth some 30 years ago when he was a little baby, put a smile on her face. Following that was feeling a hint of “guilt” for all the uncountable number of burp cloths and washcloths that she had discarded by giving them away or simply losing them and not thinking twice about them again. Having two young children of her own, she could have been more eco-conscious, especially in times like this when Mother Nature needs us to do our part, for their future. “When did we stop making heirloom-worthy keepsakes?” The thought lingered on for long enough, till her younger son turned 20 months old and she decided it was time to bring that tradition back.

WHY CHI HEIRLUUMS?

We believe in the importance of nurturing and protecting the world around us. The word “Chi” (/tʃiː/) which means “cotton” or “linen” in the Burmese language, represents our commitment to prioritizing the usage of 100% organic cotton for all our products which will come in contact with your little’s one skin. By using OEKO-TEX certified threads for all our embroidery, we eliminate any worries about harmful substances inadvertently reaching the sensitive skin of your little ones. Our products are a testament to our commitment to sustainability and the well-being of the little ones.

Each item in our collection is designed with a commitment to reducing our ecological footprint. From the initial selection of organic or recycled fabrics to the use of low-impact dyes, we prioritize the wellbeing of our planet at every stage of production. We take immense pride in collaborating with local and small businesses, who share our value of supporting the usage of eco-friendly textile; crafted with utmost care, using sustainably and ethically sourced material.

We emphasize the difference that personalization can make when it comes to gifting, and how it can transform a simple gift into something truly special. Whether it’s adding a name, initials, or a meaningful message, personalization adds a unique touch that can turn ordinary items into cherished keepsakes. In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to fall into the habit of constantly discarding and replacing items. By adding sentimental value, we can maximize the lifespan of our belongings tangled with lasting memories and reducing waste in the process.

Join us on this journey to make a positive impact on the environment while creating heirloom-worthy keepsakes.

WHY ORGANIC COTTON?

Using organic cotton for baby items offers several benefits:
1. Safety: Organic cotton is grown without the use of harmful pesticides, insecticides, and genetically modified organisms (GMOs). This reduces the risk of exposure to potentially harmful chemicals that may irritate a baby’s sensitive skin or be inhaled.
2. Hypoallergenic: Organic cotton is less likely to cause allergic reactions or skin sensitivities since it is free from the chemicals and residues often found in conventionally grown cotton. This makes it a suitable choice for babies with sensitive skin or allergies.
3. Softness and Comfort: Organic cotton is typically softer and more comfortable against a baby’s delicate skin compared to conventionally grown cotton. It provides a gentle and cozy feeling, enhancing the comfort of baby items like clothing, bedding, and blankets.
4. Breathability: Organic cotton is known for its breathability, allowing better airflow and preventing overheating. This is particularly important for baby clothing to maintain a comfortable body temperature, reducing the risk of rashes and sweat-related discomfort.
5. Sustainable and Eco-friendly: Organic cotton farming practices prioritize environmental sustainability. These methods promote soil health, water conservation, and biodiversity conservation. By choosing organic cotton for baby items, you support a more eco-friendly and sustainable industry.
6. Non-toxic Production: From the cultivation of organic cotton to the manufacturing of baby items, organic production processes adhere to strict guidelines that minimize the use of harmful chemicals and dyes. This ensures the end product is free from toxic residues and safe for baby’s use.
7. Longevity and Durability: Organic cotton is known to be more durable than conventionally grown cotton due to its stronger fibers. This means that baby items made from organic cotton are likely to last longer and stay in good condition, even after multiple washes.
